COIL camp
Coil’s massive Colour Sound Oblivion box set arrived this year. Discs 15 and 16 of said set are the video projections of each incarnation of their live show and accompanying “rhythm” tracks. The audio and video could be played in sync or each separately. The contents of these discs were released under a Creative Commons license with the intention of public recontextualization.
That’s a low quality version of disc 15. The entirety of both discs can be found here. They are fucking amazing. It’s easy to forget Peter Christopherson was one third of Hipgnosis design firm. While other members of the company have done their best canonize themselves as art celebrities, Christopherson has chosen a decidedly left hand path.
Also emerging from the CSO box is this interview, recorded in 2002.
I’m guessing their is a little MDMA involved here. Christopherson is never this forthright with his answers. Gods bless this mess.
